Nahman (Nachman)
נַחְמָן
The name "nahman" is derived of the verb "לְנַחֵם" (lenachem, "comfort", "console").
Rav Nahman was one of the prominent Amoraim in Babylon. The name "Nahman" does not appear in the Bible. However, the Bible mentions a man called Nahamani, who was one of the people who returned to Israel from Babylon.
"Who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah." Nehemiah 7, 7
