Operation Entebbe (Hebrew:מבצע אנטבה) , also known as Operation Yonathan , is the name of a rescue mission performed by several IDF units in Uganda , on July 4th 1976, for the liberation of 98 Jewish and Israeli hostages.

On June 27th, 1976, an Air France aircraft was hijacked by Palestinian and German terrorists. The hijackers landed the plane at Benghazi, Libya and flew it from there to Entebbe in Uganda.

There all the non-Jewish passengers were freed.

The First Zionist Congress (Hebrew: הקונגרס הציוני הראשון) took place in the concert hall of the Basel Municipal Casino on August 29, 1897.
 

The congress was called by Theodor Herzl, the founder of the modern Zionism movement, as a symbolic Parliament for those in sympathy with the implementation of Zionist goals.

In May 1948, the state of Israel was established. Five months later, the flag of Israel (Hebrew: דגל ישראל)was adopted by the Speaker of the Provisional Council of State.

The flag of Israel includes two blue stripes on white background with a Shield of David in the center.

"And lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thy hand over the sea, and divide it; and the children of Israel shall go into the midst of the sea on dry ground."(Exodus 14:16)

The Menorah (Hebrew: מנורה) is one of the oldest symbols of Judaism. The Menorah is a seven branched candelabrum used in the Temple as mentioned in Exodus 25:31:

In the summer of 2011, we have witnessed the largest social protest in Israel's History. However, social protest in not a new thing  in Israel.

The Black Panthers movement was an Israeli protest movement of second-generation Jewish immigrants from Middle Eastern countries. It was established in the early 70's by Saadia Marciano & Reuven Abergel.

The Black Panthers were one of the first organizations in Israel with the mission of working for social justice for the Mizrahi Jews.

The Four Mothers  (Hebrew: ארבעת האמהות) was established shortly after the February 1997 crash of two IDF transport helicopters ferrying troops to Lebanon. Seventy-three soldiers died in the disaster. For the movement's leaders - mothers of IDF soldiers serving in Lebanon (among them also mothers who had lost their sons in Lebanon) - the escalating price of remaining in Lebanon was one they were unwilling to pay.

Black Hebrews (Hebrew:הכושים העבריים) , also known as the African Hebrew Israelite Nation of Jerusalem, is a small spiritual group of 5,000 members living in Dimona, Israel. Some of them also live in Arad and Mitzpe Ramon.

During the years of the state of Israel, there have been many stories about Israeli spies.
