Jalá para Rosh ha-Shaná – el Año Nuevo judío

Ingredientes:
1 huevo
1 huevo para pintar
1 pan de levadura (de 50 grs.)
1 Kilo de harina
6 cucharadas de aceite
1 cucharada de sal
1-2 cucharadas de azúcar
Agua tibia: la que tome (aproximadamente 1 ½ taza)
Sésamo o amapola o sésamo para decorar



Preparación:

Apple and Honey (Hebrew: תפוח בדבש ) is one of the most and well known food customs of the Jewish Holiday, Rosh HaShanah.

Basically, all you have to do is to slice an apple and dip it in honey. So simple and so tasty..

Matboucha (Hebrew:מטבוחה) is a traditional cooked Moroccan dish of tomatoes and roasted peppers seasoned with garlic and chili pepper.

It is very popular in Israel, especially during Shabbat's evenings. It was brought to Israel by new immigrants from Morocco. It is recommended to use fresh tomatoes to make Matboucha. Bon appétit!

A typical dinner in my Israeli home as a child included tuna salad or eggs, Israeli salad and cheese borekas(Hebrew:בורקס גבינה).
You can buy Borekas everywhere in Isreal: grocery store, bakeries and markets.
However, Borekas are very easy to make and once you taste a home-made Borekas, you will never buy them again… Bon appetit!

Stuffed Peppers (Hebrew: פלפלים ממולאים) are the perfect dish for Sukkoth, when stuffed vegetables are traditionally served.

Schnitzel (Hebrew: שניצל), which means cutlet in German, originally referred to deep-fried, breaded veal cutlets popular in German cuisine.

The name and idea were borrowed by Jews, and today Schnitzel in the most popular dish among Israeli children. It is very easy to make and it goes great with French fries, rice, salad or mash potatoes. Bon appétit!

Shawarma (Hebrew:שווארמה) like any other fast food, is very popular in Israel.

The Shawarma sandwich is commonly composed of pita bread, lamb or chicken, Tahini, Hummus and a variety of sliced and fresh vegetables.
