G'day Mate, (good day friends) I've been learning Hebrew for a few weeks now as I am involved in bringing tours of pilgrims from Australia to visit Israel and enjoy and explore the Holy Land of the Bible. I have been to Israel 3 times now and my wife and I will be returning a 4th time this November with about 60 Australian pilgrims.
Learning to speak and read basic modern Hebrew has been a great experience and adds to the depth of appreciation for the people, its culture and its history.
I thought learning to learn a new language at my age (50) would be too difficult but so far the teacher and staff at eteacher have been excellent (Metzuyan) as have been my fellow students whom I look forward to seeing online in our virtual class room.
The ability to go back and watch and listen previous lessons is also a great feature in case Im missed a class or need to go over things to help with my learning.
Already I have been able to use a few phrases in conversing with my Jewish travel agent like to give him a nice response on the Birth of his daughter..."Mazal Tov Al Holedet Habat" (Congratulations on the birth of your baby girl)
I am looking forward to being able to test a little of what we have learned in our return to Israel in a few months time.
This has been a very good class, a very good learning experience and if I have the opportunity to visit Israel , my wife and I would like to meet Adina (Our Hebrew teacher). Lehitra'ot
